The Finance Department handles the day to day accounting and personnel issues for the Town. Payroll, accounts payable, employee benefits, and computer operation are only a few of the daily duties.
The Town’s Comptroller is the budget officer for the Town and a member of the management negotiating team. The Comptroller also prepares the annual update document for New York State, which provides annual accounting of the Town’s financial position.
Responsibilities of the Department:
- Maintains a system of accounts which is in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles
- Assists the Town Supervisor in preparing the Town’s annual operating budget
- Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including analysis of operating revenues and expenditures
- Processes vendor claims and purchase orders
- Records all Town receipts
- Maintains Town payroll and related payroll taxes
- Manages Workers Compensation Program
- Administers the NYS Retirement System program
- Oversees employee benefits in accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreements
- Maintains and administers the Town’s Central Data Processing Systems
